Let Me Dream
Behind The Scenes
Bad Habits
Bad Habits was based off a true story kind of. Back in 2023 Nat and I used to hang out a lot and we'd just tag random bus signs or anything with a flat surface for that matter. Why? I don't know it was just fun, but it's one of those moments that helped bring Southbound together. We wanted to start off Southbound as a streetwear brand, and graffiti was something we enjoyed doing from time to time. It just made sense. Fortunately we never did get arrested or fined, probably because we didn't use any markers that would last for a long time. On this track I just really wanted to show people the kind of person I am. I want to be remembered as an emcee, i want to be successful, but i also want to bring my friends up with me. Our dreams thrive in creativity, you gotta be insane to make it work but its a bad habit of mine.
Just Try
I've seen multiple interviews where a rapper says they stopped writing their lyrics after finding out someone like Jay Z, or Wayne stopped writing. Its become a flex to not try too hard and still spit crazy bars, but I also believe it takes multiple years to master the pen enough in order to fully let go of it. Thats the reason someone like Jay Z or Wayne can do it so flawlessly. I wanted to show that i'm willing to put in the work to better myself and once i decided this is something I enjoy doing, I couldn't let go.
Bomb Threat ft. Tec
For the longest time, I tried convincing Tec (FlowerKidd at the time) to rap on a track. Its something he has been wanting to do for a while but never followed through with. I don't know how I convinced him but it happened somehow. We wanted to say that despite us rapping about our wealth we are also some brokeass high school students with a dream to make it. The song is meant to be fun, and it gave us an excuse to talk our shit on the mic. Probably my favorite off the EP.
